Cangjie typing test
How to run a Cangjie typing test
- Enable your preferred Cangjie input method and Traditional Chinese output in the operating system.
- Type with the Cangjie version and layout you normally use. The test scores committed Hanzi, not the component codes you press.
- Keep the Cangjie record label selected and repeat the same passage and duration for a useful comparison.
Use your device’s Chinese keyboard. Click the passage, then type to start.
Focus the passage and type to start the timer. IME candidates count only after confirmation.
CPM = correct characters ÷ active minutes. Match punctuation and spaces; only committed characters count. How scoring works

A Cangjie test for real Traditional Chinese input
Cangjie converts shape-based component codes into Chinese characters through your system IME. This page presets Traditional Chinese and the Cangjie result label. TypeMosaic checks the committed passage character by character, including punctuation, without claiming to validate a particular Cangjie code or version.
Choose a 30-second check or a one, two or five-minute test. At the end, review correctly matched characters per minute (Chinese CPM), accuracy, equivalent WPM and a second-by-second speed chart. Compare only sessions with the same script, passage, duration, input method and hint setting.
Before you take the test
Does this teach Cangjie roots or key positions?
No. It is a speed and accuracy test for people who already have Cangjie installed. It measures the Traditional Chinese text you commit, not whether a particular root code is correct.
Which Chinese input methods work?
Pinyin, Zhuyin, Cangjie and other system IMEs work as long as they commit the same Hanzi shown in the passage. The menu only labels your local result; it does not install or switch a keyboard.
Do I need to type punctuation?
Yes. Match every character in order, including Chinese commas, full stops and spaces. A Latin comma does not match a Chinese comma. Correct the character at the cursor to continue; corrected mistakes remain counted.
What does CPM mean in this Chinese typing test?
TypeMosaic CPM means correctly matched characters per active minute, including punctuation. It is not raw keystrokes per minute. Equivalent WPM divides correct characters by five and is only a secondary reference.
Why does the timer pause when I click away?
This is an active-time practice test. Losing focus covers the passage and pauses the countdown. Click the passage to resume. Time spent choosing candidates during an active test is still included.
